Dave Nichols, president of AT&T Texas, is responsible for all regulatory, legislative, governmental and external affairs activities in Texas. He was appointed to his current position in May 2010.
Nichols joined Southwestern Bell in 1980 and has held a variety of positions in public affairs and advertising in Kansas, Nevada, California and Missouri.
Nichols served as director of external affairs for Southwestern Bell in Kansas. Next, he served as president for Nevada Bell in Reno. Nichols then was named Pacific Bell regional president for San Diego and Orange counties. In May 2001, he took the role of AT&T West’s senior vice president for the state of California. He represented the business externally and managed the corporate affairs, industry relations, government affairs and community relations activities.
He was named president of AT&T Missouri in February 2008. Based in St. Louis, Nichols was a member of St. Louis Civic Progress and Civic Council of Greater Kansas City. He also sat on the boards of the Hawthorn Foundation, Jazz St. Louis, St. Louis Police Foundation, Saint Louis Zoo, Greater St. Louis Area Boy Scout Council, United Way of Greater St. Louis, The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis and YMCA of Greater St. Louis.
In California, Nichols served as chairman of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, Los Angeles Urban League as a member of the Executive Committee, Sheriff’s Youth Foundation and United Way of Greater Los Angeles campaign chairman. He is also past chair of the Central City Association and the Los Angeles Police Foundation.
He is immediate past Chairman and current board member of the National Pioneers Volunteer Network.
A native of Wichita, Kansas, he graduated from the University of Kansas in Lawrence in 1980.
He resides in Austin with his wife, Nikki, and their three children.
